Just stumbled across this collection, uploaded to Archive February this year. Lot of classic pre-1923 popular songs, including several I don't recognize. I know most of these from old movies, sung by Judy Garland (You Made Me Love You), Doris Day (By the Light of the Silvery Moon), Jeanette McDonald (Sweetheart), and Sterling Holloway (A Perfect Day, from a Barbara Stanwyck & Fred MacMurray rom-com called "Remember the Night".).

Can we do these as a songbook, or just read the lyrics for one of the poetry projects?

The ones I looked at all had the dates on the actual scan so it's up to you . You could try for singers - as long as they don't want their performance in the public domain.
Personally I couldn't recite them , I'd have to sing
