bellsmith has a difficult condition. he cant work up enthusiasm for anything anymore, but he can lose himself in details. his social life is in ruins because he himself destroyed it. he is miserable. so now he takes his doctor into his confidence. the doctor, however, thinks that the best cure for bellsmith is some distraction, and he asks him to show a relation of his, miss marshall, around town while shes visiting. and miss marshall is shaking bellsmiths life up
