Daughters of the Revolution
by Thayer, Stephen Henry, 1839-1919; Abbey Press. pbl

this is the story of richard andros, who arrives in the american colonies just before the american revolution. it traces his own actions and sentiments, but also the changing environment and political climate around him. very interesting for background, and because it is a nove thats easy to read :)
