The house of the two barbels
by Theuriet, André, 1833-1907

The house of the two barbels is situated in a village in france. The two brothers hyacinthe and germaine live in it with their maiden aunt lenette. The boys (they are 40 and 50 though) are unmarried and really shy. One day their aunt receives a letter from her niece rosine, who is recently widowed and lives in paris, and she writes that her income is not enough to support her and her daughter in paris and that they therefore want to move into the country close by their aunt lenette. And so the two women are going to mix up the lives of the bachelors..
