Married or single?
by Croker, B. M. (Bithia Mary), -1920

Madeline West was the top of her class every year at the boarding school at which she was a pupil, loved and respected and looked up to. But then her father’s money failed to come in and suddenly Madeline finds herself as a substitute teacher and girl for everything at the school, object of pity of her school fellows, and out of favour with the owners of the school. Only her sweet disposition tide her over and keep her going. But now what? She hasn’t heard of her father in over a year and does not know what has become of him. Should she wait or should she get another job or should she get married?

this looks to be a really good book, better than i probably manage to tell it here.
