The confessions of a woman
by Collins, Mabel, 1851-1927

compelling first person account of a 1890s marriage.
When I was a bride my husband found me one day reading Epictetus.
“If you learn to think,” he said, “you will be miserable all your life. Take my advice and refuse to think.”

Morial the Mahatma
by Collins, Mabel, 1851-1927; Harry Houdini Collection (Library of Congress) DLC

this is an interesting book, set in what the 1892 american public thinks of tibet, concerning morial the mahatma, who is at once recluse, magician, and seer :) certainly has charm.
