Anton the fisherman
by Hoffmann, Franz, 1814-1882; Manderson, M. A

this is a sentimental story of a fisherman and his wife, and their children. they live peacefully in their little cottage until one day the river overflows and the strong current rolls through the village. while he and his neighbors all get out safe and sound, there is a signal of distress given from the baron's castle, and anton must dare the rescue, with only his little foster daughter louisa to help him...

Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind. Henry James
