Roy Chapman Andrews was an inspiration for Indiana Jones. He published many memoirs of his expeditions in the early 20th century, some of which are in the public domain. They were quite popular in the day. Andrews' biographer called Camps and Trails in China "..delightful" .. his books are available on Gutenberg and Internet Archive.
