Just grabbed Lion Loose. Thanks for the heads up, Greg. It’s not _short_ at 22K, but won the Hugo for short story in 1962! Wonder how it didn’t get renewed.

Well, as it turns out the Schmitz was just nominated for the Best Short Story Hugo in 1962, so maybe the mystery is solved. Goes to show that you shouldn't just accept something posted on the internet at face value. Verify!
