This looks rather fun. Perhaps some New England readers would be interested in doing it as a group project.

A book of New England legends and folk lore in prose and poetry (1884) by Samuel Adams Drake (1833-1905)

"It would scarcely be overstepping the limit separating exaggeration from truth to say that every league of the New-England coast has its story or its legend. "

It's a biggish book - about 130,000 words - divided into 13 parts for different states, cities or areas, each part comprising a number of shortish stories and poems.

i was about to suggest this book as well, so let me bump this thread up to say that it looks very interesting :)

Please help us finish these wonderful projects:
The Romance of Modern Invention by Archibald Williams, The Note-books of Samuel Butler, and Zofloya by Charlotte Dacre!
