We've currently got the The 9/11 Commission Report and the National Gambling Impact Study Commission Final Report in the catalog. I think it's time for another one. Here are the options:

1. The Commission on Long-Term Care - PDF here. The commission was to: "...develop a plan for the establishment, implementation, and financing of a comprehensive, coordinated, and high-quality system that ensures the availability of long-term services and supports for individuals in need of such services and supports, including elderly individuals, individuals with substantial cognitive or functional limitations, other individuals who require assistance to perform activities of daily living, and individuals desiring to plan for future long-term care needs."

2. Commission on Wartime Contracting - PDF here. The commission was to "study federal agency contracting for the reconstruction, logistical support of coalition forces, and the performance of security functions, in Iraq and Afghanistan. Section 841 requires the Commission to assess a number of factors related to wartime contracting, including the extent of waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement of wartime contracts."

I agree with Ava, number 4 would be a good one to read. Number 5 is a very close second, though.

I'd vote for either #4 or #5 -- and I'd volunteer to read for either one.

Anything from WWII or Vietnam available? I know that there are some speeches on American Rhetoric, per Ruth's home-school project.

For the others, I don't know much about American history and politics. Maybe giving the year of the report in the post above would help with things like the first report? It makes a difference if it was written 5 months or 50 years ago.
