Although a relative study at Biblical Hebrew I would like to read section 08. Which is chapter 20 as it's quite small. I will though be reading from my print version since on the screen it's a bit annoying.

I've signed you up. Just make sure the text you're reading from matches the public domain text (i.e. doesn't have any variations).

Hi Nicholas,

is the text to be read in English from the KJV or in the original Hebrew? - I noticed when I clicked on the link to the text from which to read, it was in Hebrew, and I had to change it to English.

If it is to be read in English, please may I claim section 4 - chapters 8-11?

Many thanks,

Jo

Hi Jo.

This project is to record Exodus in Hebrew, not English.

Oh man, am I ever excited about this one... Tempted as I am to claim all the remaining sections, may I please have 4 and 5?

What's the consensus on pronouncing hashem?

Also...uh...do we have to know how to leyn? Because I speak Hebrew fluently, but...13 years old was a looooooong time ago... :P

Yes, you may. The original BC for this project hasn't shown up in a while so I don't know what advice he would give for pronunciation. We may need to orphan some sections so most of the project will be available to volunteer for. Welcome to the project. :)

Best wishes,

Hey, I'm having a hard time accessing the Tanakh site...seems to be redirecting to a generic landing page. Do we have another accepted source?

I'm not sure at the moment. Is anyone aware of an alternative website?

There's a reasonably good one at http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt0.htm - I presume that we'll need one with vowels to make things easier on the readers?

I think a vowelled text would be preferable. If you could read it adequately without though, that should be fine.

Ah, this one has vowels in it, so readers who have a harder time without the vowels should be able to use it with no problems! :) There are other vowelless resources on the web, but they're also sort of tricky to navigate since they tend to be all-Hebrew sites, which I'm not sure we want.

Note to all:

I'm trying to make sure all my projects are up-to-date so I feel it is appropriate to start orphaning sections which are still pending.

As of the 1st of April, any sections which were claimed 2 months ago or longer will be orphaned unless re-claimed. This includes ehughes29, Sonneteer, Caeristhiona, nzk10 and Marilianus.

Sections which have been submitted but not edited within 3 months may also be orphaned. This will ensure that there are no obstacles in the way of completing this and other projects.

*As this project only has one section completed, unless the current volunteers renew their claims or new volunteers come along by then, this project may need to be put on hold or abandoned.

Best wishes,
Nicholas J. Bridgewater

My Hebrew is very rusty, and it's also very much not my first language. Would it still be okay for me to read a short section?

Excellent! Then I would appreciate it if you could sign me up for something on the shorter side. :)
