Marie Bashkirtseff's Journal [in French] and Barbellion's The Journal of a Disappointed Man were both famous in their day, and remain well worth reading.

Both writers died young and their journals obviously refer to this, but both avoid self-pity and are engaged with the world.hefyd

Can we read the journals of the Donner Party survivors? I saw the American Experience (on PBS) documentary about them last night, then found a link to one of the diaries via Wikipedia.
They call me Threadkiller.
