Here's one I didn't see mentioned in your thread yet and looks intriguing.
The Conquest of America by Cleveland Moffat
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/8684/8684-h/8684-h.htm
It takes place in the "future" of 1921 where America is being hurled toward a world war with Europe and only Thomas Edison can stop it in time!

I was interested in picking up "Utopia:The History of an Extinct Planet" by Alfred Denton Cridge

It looks manageable for a first solo, so I think it's a good choice. Start with the 1-minute test to check your recording setup, then do a couple of sections in group projects to get some experience in recording and how Librivox works, then you'll feel more confident to start your own solo project.destinpitre wrote: ↑July 27th, 2022, 5:57 pm I was interested in picking up "Utopia:The History of an Extinct Planet" by Alfred Denton Cridge

Thanks, I'll do just that. I'll return once I've done some group work and have submitted my test, thank you for the guidance!Rapunzelina wrote: ↑July 28th, 2022, 12:37 amIt looks manageable for a first solo, so I think it's a good choice. I submitted this one into the latest short science fiction collection yesterday.gweeks wrote: ↑July 18th, 2022, 7:45 am Robot nemesis by E. E. Smith

I'm also pondering Masters of the Vortex as my first solo. I'll have to ponder whether I'd be biting off too much.
Also, philchenevert created a Solo project for Skylark of Valeron. EE Smith seems to be very popular around here.

This is almost a Lensman story. It's Neal "Storm" Cloud's adventures going around the Lensman universe blowing out atomic vortexes.

This is the second of the short stories that were used to create the first half or so of Masters of the Vortex.
