Re: Podcasting LV titles

Putting on a devil's advocate hat...

Would you ask advice on podcasting about knitting in a knitting forum? On podcasting about paragliding in a paragliding forum? Or would you rather look for a podcasting forum and ask there? :)

Re: I would like to post audiobooks I have already recorded but not sure how

Hi @tovarisch, Thank you very much for the response. A few responses: * This is not a solo project. Quite a few volunteers are involved. Infact, the voices in the audiobook are professional radio announcers and this volunteer project brings us together. * LibriVox standards - I am sure it is above ...

Re: I would like to post audiobooks I have already recorded but not sure how

I am sure an admin will chime in soon. While they haven't, I will share what I know. The process we always follow here has the approval at the beginning, then recording, then proof-listening, then publishing. Since the books are in the public domain, you're probably fine as far as the approval goes....

Re: The all-new "HELP! I have an Audacity problem" thread

Hi, how do you decrease the playback volume on a recording so it falls inside the target range without having to record the section all over again? :help: Deamplifying helps only if the samples weren't clipped . If they were, no saving them, alas. Distortion (if it exists) is due to loss of informa...

Or, perhaps you have too many apps running at the same time, and Audacity is starved. So, free up some memory, CPU and hard drive space, and try again! :)

Re: Uploading

I’ve tried to upload my book and got "SyntaxError: JSON Parse error: Unrecognized token ‘<‘" error. Also I’ve got IOS system. What should I do? What "book" would it be? I see this was your second post. Have you completed the 1-minute test? I think the Welcome e-mail is supposed ...

I think you're on the right track!

You can also post the same text with whatever preamble you wish, to the non-English forum. Perhaps folks who speak Finnish might see it there sooner than here...

Re: Error in the Finnish disclaimer

Post it here.

A forum is by far a better place for things like that because anyone who understands can comment, and the final result is improved. Emailing in this case is too presumptuous. What if there's a typo? Nobody will ever know...

Re: Error in the Finnish disclaimer

Actually, "public property" and "public domain" are very close. In Russian, for instance, the literal meaning of the legal term is "societal property" or "societal asset", so it's probably something similar in other languages. My point is that it needs to be d...

Re: Error in the Finnish disclaimer

AFAICT, "in public domain", "public property" and "owned by the state" are not necessarily the same thing. Whatever it means in Finnish law may actually be different from what it means in the USA. LibriVox is the subject of the American law because the collection is sto...

It's noticeably drier (to my ear) than the first. As you're closer to the mic, you'll be the source that contributes more than anything else (like the room), keep it so.

On intro-outro: use the abbreviated versions. :) Don't add your blog, location, year, or even "read by ..." until just the last outro.

What Karen said. In addition... Look for the best USB microphone you can afford . That will last you some time, at least while you gain experience. However, don't spend your entire budget on the microphone. Make sure you have some dough left over to organize and sound-treat your recording s...

I heard that on a Chromebook you could use Twisted Wave to record. Check it out.
