Re: ~['CHAIN' FICTION] The Fate of Fenella, by Various (1892

Yes, I will put you in for section 7. This recording is quite long, and I can see that you are having some issues with volume on previous recordings. It would be a shame to put a lot of work into recording and editing this chapter and have the same issue come up again. Therefore, I would like you fi...

Re: [Short Stories, children] Just Sixteen by Susan Coolidge

Not at all! I've not had my laptop with me for a few days and I find it difficult to keep up on my iPad not to mention that I can't update the MWs from there :( That is fixed now! You cannot do everything from your iPad, but you can now do everything necessary for BCing. It has been changed so that...

Re: Hello from London

Hello from Oxford! I hope you have a wonderful time here at LibriVox. It's a really friendly community :D Sadly, yes, we cannot yet record works by authors who died after 1942 here in the UK. But I am sure you will find many other books you would like to record. One of the unexpected benefits of bel...

http://dev.librivox.org/uploads/carolin/justsixteen_11_coolidge.mp3 Etelka's Choice file duration is 32:27 This was fun to read. It was over 30:00 so I added :10 blank at the end. Hope that was correct. Jude Somers Jude, I have just checked the tech specs on your file and the volume is just a touch...

Wonderful! Thank you Tricia :)

I will have time to PL this on Friday or Saturday, so I won't advertise for a DPL yet (though if anyone is lurking and would like to sign up to listen, you would be very welcome).

Re: what should I start reading?

I started with a children's story - I think lots of people do. The advantages are that the language is a bit simpler so there is less for the tongue to trip over, and they also tend to be shorter, which is good because the first time you edit a raw recording it can be a little bit overwhelming. Ok, the consensus so far is jah-sinth - not sure how to render it phonetically, but like http://www.pronouncehow.com/english/jacinth_pronunciation with the stress slightly on the first syllable instead of heavily on the second.

I think we've had both JAH-sinth and JAY-sinth so far. Hang on 2 mins and I will just check for you which one we have used more and we'll go with that.

No problem! I'll be here. I have reluctantly discarded several books from my dream LV list because of difficult accents, so I hugely admire you for attempting it.
I'll catch up with that spot check when I'm on my laptop.
ETA: 7 spot checked and PL OK! MW updated :)
