Click Edit | Preferences | Interface and from the Languages drop-down menu, select English, rather than System. That should do it, I think, though I have never tried it myself. .

Also, because my ISP sometimes lets me down, I make a point of saving the PG web page of the text locally on my computer (File | Save page as in Firefox), so that I can continue recording even if I cannot get online.

For future reference, there is no microphone on the Audacity tool panel to click on in Audacity 2.1. To find it, click View | Toolbars and check Device Toolbar . Then, hey presto, the drop-down menu for the recording device will appear, and you can ensure that Audacity is using the correct one. Ruth
