Re: [group] The Bee People by Margaret Morley - philc
Hey Zarina, Chapter 12 is now PL OK . I actually listened to the recording again because you did it so well. I hope you won't mind me asking you this: Have you added ID3 V2 tags the second time you uploaded the chapter? Thanks! :D Oh! I had originally typed them in the first time I exported ...

Thank you, Anne!annise wrote: ↑May 17th, 2019, 8:14 pm in general, it is up to the reader and whether they feel it contributes to the story. The author did. You could just read them and decide when you listened to your ready to upload story - or ask when you post it, It's easier to remove them than to add them later.

Quotes at the start of the chapter
I hope I'm not repeating a question that's already been answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it in a search. I'd like to submit a story to an open collection of short works. The one I found on Project Gutenberg has two quotes after the title and before the story begins, including a pretty long on...

Re: Knitting! (and other needle arts...)
Does anyone else in here embroider, or is it all knitters? One of my closest friends is a dedicated yarnie, who spins and dyes her own wool and can tell you the name of the sheep it came from, but I've never picked up the knack. But I'm great at embroidery!

Re: Question about etiquette re: solo recording
It is always important to post how far you are along with your sections, even in a solo project. I understand that now! I tend to be nice to newer readers who may not be aware of our 2 month limit and send them a reminder with a sharp deadline for a response. I do not bother to send a pm if I can s...

Re: [group] The Bee People by Margaret Morley - philc
I do have a small PL note: Long silence. I think 1 - 1.5 seconds are a good silence length. @0:24.6 - 0:26.8 Done! I also trimmed another space in the intro that seemed a little lengthier than necessary. Here's the new link. Thanks! https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/beepeople_12_morley_128...

Re: Question about etiquette re: solo recording
I am not quite sure if I understand correctly - was this a chapter you had claimed or did you just record it and look at the MW? I had claimed the section and was listed in the MW. Not much was happening for a long time so I was a little surprised, even though I had gone over the recommended time l...

Question about etiquette re: solo recording
I found a book that I really love, and signed up for the group project. I submitted one chapter right away, then had some technical difficulties so the second chapter took much longer. I was checking the MW every day and saw that the thread appeared stalled - no one else had commented or uploaded a ...

Re: Making your reading sound Great
This thread is very helpful, thank you! I have trouble with distracting mouth noises and some of the advice in here has helped reduce that quite a bit. The hardest thing is remembering to drink lots of water hours in advance of recording.

Re: The offensive
I'm finding that I must read everything thoroughly before signing up, though it slows me down considerably, because even the most innocuous story is likely to have some egregious stereotyping thrown in for no other reason except to reinforce the social order. Children's stories are lousy with this k...

Re: Chronicles of Narnia
I definitely have a soft spot for the Narnia books. I got the set as a gift for my 11th birthday and it immediately became one of my most prized possessions. I got the same set for my son when he was born, and have read the entire series out loud to my family more than once. It's hard to choose a fa...

Re: [stories] A bunch of keys, where they were found and what they might have unlocked -ck
Hi Carolin! Thanks for the reminder. I have still been struggling to learn to use my new equipment to get the best quality sound in less than optimal circumstances. Overall, this recording has some of the best sound quality I have managed to capture yet, but to my dismay, during editing I discovered...
