PS I think I see the problem, my settings for MP3 had somehow been set to "Bitrate mode" as "variable"

So unless FLAC is better I'll reexport and upload as MP3...

Weird! I could have understood something wildly different like 32 or 64 (the rates I use for two sorts of podcast needing quick download) but these make no sense!

I can export again, or I could upload the FLAC files they are about twice the size only...

I have been getting on with writing my paper (or at least the notes for the oral version) faster than expected, so I have taken a break and done the corrections.
