Re: Short Story Collection 101 - lt
I think you will find that Lynne will say no, as there are copyright problems, but i will leave the answer to her. Pleased that you have completed what I think must be your first recording?

OK fine - if Anthony is OK and you as BC - I'm happy to do it. It may get me away from the mic for a while!

Re: ~ SOLO The Man Who Was Thursday by G.K.Chesterton - lt
It's just that I once had a high pitched electronic sound on one chapter of a recording of a book some time ago and I was unaware of it, but the young DPL picked it up. It was caused by another electronic device that was in the room and was picked up loudly on the mic. Even my friends who were stayi...

I'm just thinking about doing the PL for this recording. My only worry is that should the recording have a very high frequency sound I might miss it. But normal pitches are fine.

Re: Error on Upload - Filetype not allowed (Solved, Not Audacity)
That is well within Checker's specs. This file passes Checker (with a warning on volume only) - and will not upload. Under Validation -> Choose Validation Methods. You can turn on checking for background noise there. I have downloaded the latest version of Checker and like my previous version there...

Re: Error on Upload - Filetype not allowed (Solved, Not Audacity)
Also "Background Noise 24.2 dB" - if that is the noise floor, is pretty noisy. That is well within Checker's specs. This file passes Checker (with a warning on volume only) - and will not upload. Where did you get the background noise figure from? I was not aware that Checker measured that.

Re: Overall reception of non-native speakers' English recordings
Meaning, readers might pour a lot of time and love into a work that then doesn't get listened to, and they won't even know. Of course, with English, one must also remember that these audiobooks will be enjoyed by a lot of other non-native speakers, who might not mind or even notice a slightly forei...

This is a good link to find out more about how speech is effected by mic position and how important the consonants are for intelligibility. (OK, the mics are expensive - but the information applies to all mics).

Re: USB Microphones versus Interfaces and XLR Mics
It's true that the biggest factor in good sound is the person's voice, next the recording space, but then the mic. The interface, the pre-amp etc., have much less of an influence on the sound. So getting a suitable mic is important. I don't necessarily mean an expensive mic. I have a couple or more ...

Re: ZOOM Discussion Thread
It's definitely better. I have a feeling though that Phil (philchenevert) might want it even higher as some of us of a "mature" age (over 21) might like a bit more punch!
