Hey Brad, sounds great! Love that accent :) The 64kbps file works fine for me. The 128 file has nice ID3 tags (it seems that archive.org doesn't copy the ID3 tags to the 64kbs or ogg files, ugh). One small suggestion -- give your filenames two-digit numbers, like this: title_01_author or, if you've ...

Brad -- Hugh is out of town for a few days, but let's see if I can help you. I don't think you can edit files once they're up on archive.org... As a matter of fact, it seems to be a good idea to upload all files of each book all at once, so they end up on the same page at archive.org, like this: htt...

Wow. Hugh, and Chris, I just listened to some of your recordings and BOY am I impressed. Lovely pacing, both of you. Gord, one more thing about filenames -- may I suggest numbering them thus: leaves_01_whitman leaves_02_whitman etc So that they will be ordered correctly? (otherwise 30 will come befo...

Hoeing and sweet it shall be. Thanks a ton, Gord :)

Hmm do you want

Artist: Whitman_Walt

in lowercase also? (not meaning to be nit-picky, just trying to save someone some work editing id3 tags down the road)

Looking through book 4, the children of adam, I've come upon some possible typos. My library is closed... if anyone has a paper copy of the correct version of this book I'd appreciate it so much if you'd look these up for me: "The young fellow hosing corn" (surely "hoeing" corn) ...

Planning to start this tonight... one question though. On Hugh's "recording notes" post (which I just spent ten minutes trying to find and re-read -- I suggest it be added to every subsection since it's so important) he says to have all metadata in lowercase. So... we should lowercase the ...

Editing the recordings where we say "librivox.blogsome.com" would be a HECK of a job. If Hugh keeps the blogsome site under his control forever and ever, we can do a re-direct there to send people to librivox.org .

Not an elegant solution, but functional...

I vote we stick with "all librivox recordings are in the public domain" heheh.

Public domain sounds good to me!

I've got your chapters loaded into my iPod and am listening right now. Sounds great! :)

Hmm. Good question, and something to ponder. It would stink if someone took our audio files, packaged them up all slick, and sold them, or used them in a Nike ad :) I guess the creative commons non-commercial license would prevent that, eh? There's something so appealing about public domain, but may...

Finished! W00t!

Hugh, the files encoded at 128kbps are here:

http://kayray.org/audiobooks/librivox/roadtoOz/high_quality/

Would you let me know when they're on archive.org so I can link there from my blog?

Ok, now I can work on my other assignments for a change ;-)
