Re: ~OPEN [poetry] The Book of the Little Past by JP Peabody

The sound quality on these isn't as good as my previous recordings. I don't know why as I used exactly the same setup and settings. They aren't appalling, but there is more background noise. Both hiss and organic. I note in FAQs that it's said that Librivox isn't too fussed about background noise, b...

Re: Making your reading sound Great

I am used to professional audio measurements. dBFS peak, dBFS RMS, crest factor, etc. I've only been using Audacity for the recordings I've done for here, but am used to using ProTools and Logic Pro X. I've got the checker program, but haven't yet reverse engineered how it calculates its dB measure....

Re: OPEN [Plays] One Act Play Collection 010 - thw

I think I've now done everything I signed up for, and am 'up to date'. I imagine I'll get some time to do something tomorrow, but I'll look around to see what. I'll have another look at Cathleen ni Houlihan and see if I could do Peter, but please don't sign me up just yet.

Re: Making your reading sound Great

Just as a quick one, as someone who is used to dBs, I do find the '89dB' very confusing as it doesn't really mean anything. dBFS = deciBels Full Scale as mentioned by lurcherlover are IMHO a better way of describing volume levels, and are widely used. We could use peak levels, RMS, or other measures...

My recording of Alaric is described as being '93dB'. Do you want me to adjust the volume and upload again?

Re: OPEN [Plays] One Act Play Collection 010 - thw

I think the only play in this collection that needs additional male readers is Cathleen ni Houlihan . We've actually got seven more slots to fill in this collection; I'm actually surprised more people haven't volunteered to BC a one act. These collections, from my experience, usually fill up pretty...
