Yep raised lips. I did this one year and it is so gross after only one day!!!! EWWWWE!! You have to keep emptying it out and replenishing the beer. I live in a marshy area so the land stays very moist even in the worst drought. Slugs love it here. I have mostly loam for soil and my plants love it!!...

A shame Malta isn't big enough to support a major electrical retailer.
I'd bag myself a franchise deal and be out there in a shot with microphones, pop filters an' everything.

I got some beer to make traps with but I'm afraid I drank it. I have hear that de-alcoholized beer works just as well and without the temptation to consume it yourself. I have heard this too and feel that maybe 'tis the way to go. I also hear you must raise the lip of your pots of beer...

Greetings Nevir
Old obscure books are great.
Maybe you could even scan them in and add them to the Gutenberg project.

Jim, a good organic way to control slugs is egg shells. Let them dry out then crush in an old blender and spread around the base of your plants. The slugs wont crawl over them or if they do, they will be sliced open. Anything horrible that happens to slugs is fine with me. I spend a lot o...

Direction matters in that it still has one of those pick up patterns. I think it's designed so it only picks up from quite a spcific direction. Dynamic mics are more for stage use so they don't pick up crowd noise etc but I like them in that they don't pick up as much street noise etc. Pop filters -...

another question: what are the differences in usage between "which" and "that" ...are they totally interchangeable? I'm sure this must be a trick question but I shall blithely walk into the trap and say "which" is a question and "that" isn't. Which is the dev...

LW&W. Looking forward to Caspian! Ah, yes. Hope Caspian will be good. I have such fond memories of that book. It was read to us at school when I was very young and captured my imagination so much more than the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I ordered it from the mobile library and just had t...

Looks like fun, Jim! Not the veggies I would have picked (onions and leeks and cabbages? shudder -- give me cucumbers and tomatoes and sweet corn instead ) but I am impressed! I have a brown thumb and do better shopping at the farmers market. Now to the point of the post -- what's a courgette...

Yup, stir fry is my favourite thing to do with courgette/zucchini. According to the book I've got here, courgettes/zucchini and marrows are the same thing but just bigger. The idea is to harvest them before they get that big or they lose all their flavour. I let one of mine grow really huge before I...
