[CHINA] Oriental Gardening by W. Chambers - availle

Dissertation on Oriental Gardening, by Sir William Chambers (1723 - 1796) A little essay on the Chinese style of gardening, as opposed to the continental style, which the author finds too formal with too many straight lines, and the English, about which he is equally disparaging. In his preface, he...

Annise,
I've heard from Gill; she's fine. Just a little interference from real life.

The final section, section 89, has been uploaded. From: Of the Capital and income PDF 538 / text 485 to END! Total recording time of approximately 53 hrs, 22 mins. Annise, I've been modifying the summary occasionally; it's in its final form now. Gill's not been on the forum for some weeks now. Have ...

My July list (I've not included a couple of books re-read for the fourth or fifth time): 43 Mudlarking - lost and found on the River Thames; by Lara Maiklem. Engrossing look at the addictive nature of poking around in the muddy shoreline of the Thames for the love of discovery and of history. I gave...

Re: Upload problem

You're right. I should have spotted that. The sound file is actually less than one hour long, but I had reloaded from the FLAC file to do some editing; somehow the sample format and export quality had got changed from what they should have been.

Thanks for that pointer.

Upload problem

Is there a maximum permitted file size for uploads? I've tried a couple of times to upload an mp3 file which is over 132Mb long, and after most of it has been uploaded, the process fails with an "Empty file upload result". I've listened to the beginning and end of the file and it seems okay.

Thanks, Gill. Section 87 edited and uploaded.

Unfortunately, most of the last chapter is a tabulation of his data, but I think we should do it, to fit in with the rest of the text.

Re: [SOLO] London Labour etc., Vol 1 -Mayhew-ans

Thanks, Steve; I'll probably not buy a copy, though. The "consent forms" and demand for addresses, and the reputedly stodgy style puts me off a little. it's true that there are people still in a similar state in London now as in Mayhew's time. A few years back, three friends and I decided to got to ...
