Re: OPEN Ghost and Horror Story Collection Vol. 071 - rap
Rapunzelina, I'm not sure if this one is horrible enough for your collection; I'd be happy to put it in a short story collection instead, if you don't think it's suitable. https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ghohor071_storydoctortold_cummins_py_128kb.mp3 (17.56) Title: The story the doctor told...

Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans
Thanks, Laura; coffee's a big part of my life, too. Chapter 19 uploaded. EDIT: at 9.16 the text gives a location as "Bucksh Mill" (line 3, paragraph 4, pdf page 290/text page 267). I checked Devon locations and it's a typo; it should be "Bucks Mill" ... which is how I read it. Pe...

Welsh Rarebit Tales [aDOPTED]
I was looking for information on Welsh Rarebit on wikipedia and found a reference to this book. It's a collection of fifteen fairly nasty little stories, most with quite a bit of conversation in them (so I'm not likely to take the book on, myself). Peter *** An example. The following is a line from ...

Re: Creating Atmosphere in Projects
Of course, I should have said that any sounds added to your recording for non-LibriVox distrbution should be in the public domain. But for me, if I were ever to record The Wind in the Willows here, I would put a copy on archive.org with occasional water and rain sounds, traffic, court room gavel, an...

Re: Creating Atmosphere in Projects
... and so you can add all the sounds and sound effects you like to the recording, and put the "clean" one onto the LibriVox site (from where it will be stored on archive.org as a LibriVox file), and the "enhanced" one separately on archive.org for yourself.

Thanks, Laura; I think I caught the odd noise, but do tell me if it's still there.
Chapter 18 edited and re-uploaded. My favourite so far was the first chapter ... at the coffee stall.

Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans
I've uploaded Chapter 18. (pdf pages 264-285 - London Life and Country Life) I think the author was getting depressed on laudanum for this one: rambling on-and-off the theme, convoluted sentences, and fragments of poetry that, to me, were practically incomprehensible. The sooner he gets back to the ...

Latin:-
Could someone suggest a suitable pronunciation of "in coelo quies", please? All I could find online were apparent computer-generated "suggestions".

Hard to believe; have I really been here so long?
Another November passes; I'm glad that LibriVox has managed to survive so long. Happy anniversary, everyone.

Laura, I'm glad you like Neighbourhood; it was a gentle read.
At some point, I, too, am going to have to move all my books, so I can get a carpet replaced; it's a daunting task.

Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans
You can listen to that particular bit on one of the youtube recordings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1LDMwn8pMc&t=21748s
One of the listeners liked the Londoner fragment and bookmarked it at 5:48:53, but the section starts at 5:44.10

Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans
Thanks for catching that, Laura; chapter 17 edited and re-uploaded. In my last solo, which was based in a Sussex village, the narrator encounters a visitor from London, whom he's initially ready to dislike, but finds himself taking out into a meadow by the river. It was the Londoner's first time in ...
