Lailja, I misunderstood your earlier post: I thought your computer did not have a USB port at all. If you do have one, then a USB microphone is better, from what I've heard here on the forum. And, yes, a gaming headset might do very well, though you may be able to buy a headset advertised as for use...

Lailja, Don't worry about these technology lovers; if you only have a 3.5 mm socket on your sound board, you can get a microphone to fit it. Apparently you want what's called an electret or condenser microphone, rather than a "dynamic" one. If your computer has a separate sound card, rathe...

Oh, I see what you mean .. I thought you meant some comment on the story itself.

Thanks, I'll carry out a quick check on your file tomorrow evening: I'm still working my way through the forum, catching up after my days away.

Welcome; I suggested People of the Abyss, but have got caught up on other works, including a solo of White's Natural History of Selborne, which I've not touched in weeks. But I wouldn't mind setting the book up if we can get some American- and England- English speakers to read it. I'll try to set it...

Thanks, Betsie; yes, Short Ghost Story Collection sounds fine. I wonder if the collections of stories and poems should be separated out from the individual works on the page, or perhaps have a page to themselves.

Go for it, Jennifer.

You don't really need to "warn" me about what you're going to read ... unless you're unsure of its being counted as a ghost story.

Just go ahead: there are ten slots to fill!

Thanks,

Betsie,

Am I misreading the catalog page or do we not have a section for the various collections? It looks as if they are only catalogued as the individual poems or short works from within the collections.

Starlite: Thanks for the reference; collection 2 is already posted ... it's dropped down the thread. EDIT: Betsie The two Nesbit stories are from "Grim Tales" published in 1893 (and out of copyright in Canada, where the Gaslight site is based: http://gaslight.mtroyal.ab.ca/gaslight/ ) The ...

The Randall Garrett "Lord Darcy" stories. An aristocratic detective living in an alternate world to this one, where ritual magic takes much of the place of science. Victorian/edwardian setting. A lot of fun. ... and Mike Kurland did a couple more in the same series, after Garrett's death. ...
