Cool, thank you Kristin. I'm using a headset mic at the moment, which I think is most comfortable for me, but has the disadvantage of not letting you vary your distance. So as long as it's okay to have a few bits clipped here and there, I think I'll be right. I'll take care not to do any sustained b...

Volume settings, compression, and so on...?
Hello All, I'm back with a new question :). PaulW suggested turning up my input volume setting, after listening to my 1-minute-test, because it's a little bit soft the way it is. So I've done that, and the volume is much more satisfying. But I'm wondering what happens with the occasional word or phr...

Something like that has happened to me a few times (I'm a newbie here and new to Audacity as well), and it bamboozled me too. I don't know if mine had the same cause as yours, but I had the same sudden ear-drum-blowing loudness, and frantically pressing the volume controls, even 'mute', on my comput...

Hello David, it looks like while you were busy cross-posting with Paul, I was here cross-posting with you, lol! How 'bout that, a cross-posting triangle and it's only my first day here! What other hijinx can we get up to next? Thanks so much for the encouragement. I really appreciate it :). Vi...

Well gosh, Paul, I think you have just made my day :D. Thanks for responding, and for the positive feedback. I'll go tweak my input volume. Thank goodness that's something I actually know how to do! I shall now go forth and help multiply (LibriVox's catalogue of recordings, that is). Vi...

Hello LibriVoxers, here's my 1-minute-test
Hi Everyone, I'm new to LibriVox and being a rather low-tech type person, I'm enjoying the challenge of trying to get myself up to the point of being able to start some reading projects while trying at the same time not to tear all my hair out as I go . I'm just brimming with pride and relief a...

'Palate-clicks', smacking noises
Hi Everyone, :D This is my first post here, I'm a newbie to LibriVox as well as to audio recording, and gosh I had no idea how involved it was going to get just preparing to start recording! I'm still making my way through the tutorial, so I'll keep on with that, but I've noticed something f...
