I'm downloading all the pending files now (it will run on long after I've gone to sleep), and will report here and update the front page within the next couple of days.

I think this is what Starlite told me. I just tested it and it seems to work well. Starting with a mono track that's too quiet: Select All and Copy. Then from the Audacity menu option "Project", open a new audio track and paste in the copied track. Now save the combined two-track file as a...

I'm downloading the files this evening, but it's going so slowly that I'll have to leave them running when I go to sleep.

Leonid, what sound recorder do you use? If it's Audacity, there is a fairly simple way to increase volume, which Starlite told me about. I'll explain later.

I've updated the first post. A few comments: 1 Annoying Twit. Could you give me a source for your Bronte story, please? Although the story was written in 1833, I've not been able to find any reference to its being published before 1925: it's available on the Australian Gutenberg site, quoting that d...

I'm back now. Thank you everyone for keeping this going while I've been away. Eric, I'm sorry that your story can't be used; Lovecraft has been awkward for us since our early days, because his publication dates lie across the 1923 barrier. You can see a list of his public domain works via a link in ...

Imuse,

That registration code seems to be invalid.

(I'm away for a week now, so won't be able to respond for a while.)

Thanks for the story;

I'm off early to bed, then travelling tomorrow morning.

I'll download and check any pending stories for sound quality, file names and tags, and tie this all up in a week's time.

Thanks, everyone. I'm sorry I've been out of touch; spreading myself too thin. I'm away next week, but have the following week off, and will do ALL the work needed here then.

Thanks, everyone,
I'll have a look and carry out sound checks this evening if I can (intermittent ISP problems). I'm away for the following week, so will ask for someone to keep an eye on this collection while I'm away.

Eric, The Outsider sounds fine. I've added five seconds of silence to the end, and have copied the phrase "The Outsider, by H.P. Lovecraft" from the front of the file to the end (which should really finish with "The End of ...."). I've also adjusted the title ID3 tag to read &quo...

I did noise clean the files before recording, but didn't want to do it too much in case it affected their overall sound quality. To my taste, a little low background rain and market noise would be nice, but I don't know if this is wanted or even possible. ... but it would help cover noisy files. Peter
