Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans

Thanks, Laura. I've uploaded chapter 22: Half an hour in a servants' registry office (pdf pages 318-344)

I had to upload twice, as the first attempt gave an error .... but the second upload was very fast, so there may still be a problem.

Re: Choosing a computer monitor

Thanks; I've chosen a new monitor that's not too expensive, nominal 32inch screen. As I'm in no hurry, I'll hope for it to be reduced in the post-Christmas sales.

Re: Choosing a computer monitor

Now, that's a curious idea! I'll look into it. My feeling at the moment is that I'd prefer the monitor ... more because a screen like this is how I've always viewed films, but I might be willing to change.

Re: Choosing a computer monitor

Not at all ... it's for watching DVDs! I do have a life outside LibriVox ... honestly. I know nothing about how the technology has changed over the last ten or fifteen years. The old monitor that I use for viewing the DVDs feels too small .. especially when I'm watching with a friend. That's with wa...

Choosing a computer monitor

I don't have a television (and don't want one !), but I have a DVD/blu-ray player connected to a computer monitor via a video converter (with amplifier and speakers carrying the sound). The monitor I'm using is rather small (19" x 10.5" ... approximately 22" diagonal). I'm thinking of...

I agree .. from nine or ten years old! ... though we have them now, too ... for different reasons, though.

Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans

Laura, I thought I'd get that chapter out of the way, so I've recorded and uploaded chapter 35 out of sequence.

Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans

Laura, I was looking ahead through the book, making a note of chapter titles, when I found a corrupt page in the pdf from archive.org. It's in the chapter "A Night With Thieves". I found a copy on google books, and saved the missing page as a jpg. Here's the google books reference:- https:...

Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans

Thanks, Laura; I'm just grateful that I'm not living near Etna or Grindavik.

Have a lovely weekend.

Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans

Thanks, Laura; I've uploaded Chapter 20. (pdf pages 293-303 / text pages 270-280)
There's a fragment of poetry just before the end. I had no idea what the poet was trying to say, so I may have the emphases wrong. If you have any ideas, I'd be happy to rerecord it.

Re: OPEN Ghost and Horror Story Collection Vol. 071 - rap

Rapunzelina, I'm not sure if this one is horrible enough for your collection; I'd be happy to put it in a short story collection instead, if you don't think it's suitable. https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ghohor071_storydoctortold_cummins_py_128kb.mp3 (17.56) Title: The story the doctor told...

Re: [SOLO] Wonderful London - Anonymous-ans

Thanks, Laura; coffee's a big part of my life, too. Chapter 19 uploaded. EDIT: at 9.16 the text gives a location as "Bucksh Mill" (line 3, paragraph 4, pdf page 290/text page 267). I checked Devon locations and it's a typo; it should be "Bucks Mill" ... which is how I read it. Pe...

Re: Creating Atmosphere in Projects

Of course, I should have said that any sounds added to your recording for non-LibriVox distrbution should be in the public domain. But for me, if I were ever to record The Wind in the Willows here, I would put a copy on archive.org with occasional water and rain sounds, traffic, court room gavel, an...
