Re: Irritating background hum is bothering me
I don't think that noise/hum/resonance is a narrow frequency that can be notched, unfortunately. It does sound like it is some feedback within the signal chain and you could try replacing pieces one at a time to isolate, i.e. cables and even mic. Or it might be a software processing artifact--do you...

Re: Audacity required?
I agree that Reaper is a great DAW with a lot of flexibility and customization. I find it to be an all-in-one tool for my audio editing and recording needs. It would be convenient to have a separate channel for headphone monitoring, separate from the main outputs I should have clarified as I meant ...

Advice on Accents - Interview with Dr. Dialect
Maybe of some interest to us LibriVoxers is a recent podcast from the boys at Voiceover Body Shop (VOBS) with Dr. Dialect, P.J. Ochlan. He is an awesome coach and narrator. https://youtu.be/v-eHJujI2Y8?si=IDY9CLSEHHirOK1- Most of the subject matter has to do with audiobooks, including things to keep...

Re: [OPEN] Essays Collection #01 - rap
All Things Are Possible is PL OK. How clever, how true. I perused a few of the other entries, they all seem pithy and clever, and I think this book would make a splendid addition to the LV Collection. We have nothing else by this author. If you should choose to put up this project as a solo, perhap...

Re: [OPEN] Essays Collection #01 - rap
Here is a short one for the collection if acceptable. It is from a collection of philosophical pieces: All Things Are Possible, Part 1, no. 79 by Lev Shestov, translated by S. S. Koteliansky published 1920 https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/essays1_allthingspossible179_shestov_sws_128kb.mp3 4:...

Re: Audacity required?
Thanks - downloaded Reaper - will give it a try Reaper is great, so flexible and configurable and I'm guessing enough Librivoxers use it to offer any help too, though there are so many other resources for help between youtube and the cockos forum: https://forum.cockos.com/ (Usually whenever I wonde...

Re: Editing audio files? Maybe don’t upgrade your Mac to Sonoma yet
There was recently an article at Sweetwater on this topic of upgrading to Sonoma:
https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/should-i-upgrade-to-macos-sonoma/
I don't use it but no doubt Audacity will be updated soon. I also haven't upgraded to Sonoma yet either, but I am usually slow at change

Re: Archiving Files and Defence in Depth
Why render as stereo WAV? For original mono recordings/narrations it will not preserve any additional information/quality and only double the filesize? For me, I don't usually make any additional uncompressed renders because I keep the Reaper files along with the original WAV recordings; those data ...
