Re: SOLO - When the Birds Fly South by Stanton A. Coblentz - ans

Chapter 3 ready for spot PL! Chapter 4 ready for PL! https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/birdsflysouth_04_coblentz_128kb.mp3 - 09:52 I hope I've got 'apparel' right this time. It's come up before and I can't quite hear how the dictionary version is different from what I am saying. It is the stress p...

Re: [COMPLETE] Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

Thanks, Anne! Yes, it's good to have chance to take Mr. Moffatt out of the wardrobe and dust him off! Sorry about posting the wrong link. The cover is great and nobody would have seen that it was a chemist's shop anyway :) In the book it was Claverley, which is based on Waverley, but I think also on...

Re: SOLO Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

Actually, this would be better - it is a chemist's shop on a street corner in Sydney in the 1920s and it is out of copyright.

Re: SOLO Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

Hi Anne, The summary is ready to go. This is the best image I can find, though not 100% appropriate and I am not sure if we are allowed to use CC licensed images. The period of the book is 1920s, but there are several mentions of trams passing the front door of the shop. The book is set in 'Claverle...

Re: SOLO - When the Birds Fly South by Stanton A. Coblentz - ans

My mistake! It should be Stanton A. Coblentz. I've corrected and marked both as ready for spot PL. A note, or a point to check for chapters 1 and 2 with the intro (I'm really sorry I missed it in 1!): I heard his name as Stanley – is it pronounced as Stanley or Stanton? I haven’t read anything about...

Re: SOLO Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

Hi both, I have checked the scanned copy against the original for Sections 8 and 13 and the scan was correct both times. I've posted the 'ready for spot PL' separately so you can see the time stamps. The final chapter is also okay - the toc said 'Conclusion', but there is no title to the chapter its...

Re: SOLO Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

Ready for spot PL! 'Bondage' is correct. This is Section 13 ready for PL, but again there is an alt version in it, which will have to wait until the printed book arrives (if it ever does!). Around 1:56, the text says 'bondage warehouses' and he certainly means 'bonded warehouses'. I googled 'bondage...

Re: SOLO Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

Ready for Spot PL! "I can believe it" is correct. Something I forgot to mention about Section 8. Close to the bottom of p.66, you'll see: “You don't really mean that you're going home to England, are you, John?” she asked. “I can't believe it.” “ I can believe it myself ,” answered Mr. Mof...

Re: SOLO - When the Birds Fly South by Stanton A. Coblentz - ans

Chapter 2 ready for PL! https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/birdsflysouth_02_coblentz_128kb.mp3 - 19:29 A different set up, I'm not sure, because the last few months were a bit disruptive in terms of recording. I'm not sure where I recorded Mr Moffatt now, but this one must be the first recording I'...

Re: SOLO Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

Section 31 ready for spot PL! I've also tidied up the summary a little. Almost, but not quite ready. I still have to check Sections 8 and 13 and upload without the alternate takes, which I can do early next week. I went to the State Library today but didn't have time to wait while they retrieved Mr....

Re: SOLO Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

The IA text is a 1928 edition, so I think definitely PD. Plus it has been released from limited access now - https://archive.org/details/orlandobiography0000virg/page/n5/mode/2up I don't know the specifics for Orlando, but Virginia Woolf is well known for having revised her books between printings, ...

Re: SOLO Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

Sections 27, 28, 29, 30, ready for spot PL! I have added the 't' to Johnstone - it wasn't too difficult and seems to sound okay!

Re: SOLO Mr. Moffatt by Chester Cobb-ans

Hi Anne and Erin, Happy New Year! There is a copy of Orlando on Hathi Trust (It shows as 'limited search only', but the whole text is available). https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=dul1.ark:/13960/t4fn6fv29&seq=6 Anne, could I check with you there are no problems with PD (copyright 1928). Er...
