Re: Low power radio - and LibriVox content
Here's an update on WMFH-LP, a low power FM radio station broadcasting librivox content 24x7: After our crowdfunding project fell short of the goal we have been working on a turn toward two other funding sources. Our need is approximately $12,000 to buy transmitter, antenna, etc. We are pursuing a c...

Re: Low power radio - and LibriVox content
Well, we are banging away on Twitter and Facebook and generally being annoying, trying to get people to give us cold hard cash. And we're not being overly successful about it. (but BIG THANKS to those who have contributed!) The folks-who-should-know tell me that there should be an uptick in contribu...

Re: Low power radio - and LibriVox content
Our crowd-funding project is up! http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/startup-classic-book-radio-wmfh-lp And we have the bare bones of a website at http://www.wmfh-lp.org which includes a blog as we pull things together. And we have a facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/wmfhlp Chris Howard Classi...

Re: Low power radio - and LibriVox content
A bit of progress. We have applied for a callsign and that came through. And we started a website. Nothing is there yet except for our aspirations and a progress blog of sorts. wmfh-lp.org I have been investigating the internet streaming side. And I've been looking at the "RDS" thing, that...

Re: Low power radio - and LibriVox content
Today the FCC approved our Low Power FM station application. That means we have a frequency assigned to us at this location. And we have 18 months to build our station and have it up and running. I have been downloading content from the librivox website and putting it on a computer which runs some f...

Re: Low power radio - and LibriVox content
Progress report: The Federal Communications Commission's time window for LPFM radio applications ended on Nov 15th and they are now processing the apps. Our application appears to be in good shape. If there are no public objections filed we will likely get a permit to construct and have 18 months to...

Re: Low power radio - and LibriVox content
Because of the potential costs, I agree that contacting an existing station would be the way to go unless the people involved already have an interest in that type of technology. I appreciate the encouragement from this group. I brought up the topic to make sure that I wasn't offending a taboo or wh...

Re: Low power radio - and LibriVox content
We have started the process. The FCC is opening a time window in October for new applications for low power FM radio stations. They only do so to non-profit organizations, and only if there is an open frequency available. Low Power FM generally reaches about 5 miles in radius from the transmitter si...

Low power radio - and LibriVox content
I'd like to know what you think of this idea. The FCC will be accepting applications for low power FM radio stations. I am contemplating applying for one and broadcasting LibriVox recordings. Low power FM covers about 10 miles from the site of transmission, more or less. Stations are required to tra...

The "magic window" that I see doesn't show which chapters are taken or
already completed.
Is there something I should be doing, maybe refresh somehow?

Re: [SHORT ST] Sketchbook of Geoffrey Crayon by W. Irving -
Oh, and I am using the latest Audacity (1.3.13-beta) that downloaded when I went looking for it on my Linux machine. The ID codes appear to be ok when I enter them. Maybe the newer version of Audacity? Should I be saving as some older flavor of mp3? I'm not sure if that is possible or how to do it. ...
