Re: Replacement microphone question
‘BLUE’ make some really good microphones. It might be worth having a look at the Blue Snowball at around $68 as well. Have you had a listen to The Microphone Showdown on LV? http://librivox.org/microphone-showdown-i-wandered-lonely-as-a-cloud-by-william-wordsworth/

Re: Need Help in Editing
I approach any project gingerly with the fear of making a mistake and losing it all! Holly Hi Holly - it's a natural fear! After I've been editing a project a while or am about to do something drastic to a project (especially a lot of cutting and pasting) I always make a second copy through the 'sa...

Hi Ang. Welcome to LibriVox. It's a fun place with friendly people, so if you've any questions or queries just ask - we were all new here once. There's good information in the FAQ's post at the top of this thread as well as some great videos from our 'in-house' Spielberg, Mr. Chenevert. Have a great...

Brilliant idea Bart - we could call it 'Culinary Cannibalism'. Or Jamie Oliver's 'Eat Your Heart Out'.

Re: What was your first LV listen?
The first LV I downloaded was my ‘test recording’ thinking ‘actually this is not as easy as I thought it was!’. First LV book was ‘Bladys of the Stewponey’ which I think I picked because it had a really silly title: It was read by the wonderful Andy Minter with such a tremendous array of voices and ...

Re: Help! How Do I record from my iPad ?
I use the free App - 'Pocket Wavepad' on my iPad with an external mic. Open 'settings' in the App (Bottom left button) choose WAV/PCM, sample rate 44.1 and 16 bit and you're away. I then export to the desktop and edit in Audacity.

Re: Distortion when burning a file on Toast
Hi Jerry,
I don't have the answer but I do have a solution. If the file is in iTunes, just create a 'playlist' with it and then click the 'burn to CD' in the file dropdown menu.

Re: OPEN: Shakespearean Dialogues Collection 001 - ek
Argh! Just noticed I named my file wrongly (013 rather than 001) - Obviously I'm trying to stake my claim for future collections! Should I re-upload or will that create further complications?
David.

Re: Hi, I'm new here and thanks, Richard Kilmer
Welcome Charles. Glad to see you're going to 'role up the sleeves'. If you start with the 'one-minute test' you'll get a feel for what's involved - it's not an audition, just a way to check 'tech specs' and get you used to using the system, uploads, tags, editing etc. Jennie Gerhardt, as you say has...

Re: MP3 Gain for Mac
Thanks Tricia - that works perfectly and I've had tremendous fun putting old recordings through 'Checker' to see how close I got (or didn't get) to the right level. I know the ideal is 89db and most of mine come out between 90 & 91, but I just wondered what the acceptable parameters were?
