Hi Todd, I was going through the list and just pulled out all the ones that were claimed/done already. I also noticed that chapter 15.3 was missing from the list (How Partlet Died and was buried) Hope this is more helpful than confusing The Golden Bird dandyrandy/jhillkaucer Hans In Luck Andrea hans...

welcome aboard!

I signed up a month ago and did a section for Treasure Island. It really doesn't take that much time. I've spent a lot more time listening to everyone else's recordings.

Tom Thumb

I'll take Tom Thumb for now. If there others available when I'm done I'll pick them up.

Compressor vs Normalize and Noise reduction

Normalizing is indeed different from compression. When you normalize you can raise and lower peak levels and RMS (average loudness) of the recording. So let's say you have a recording at -12 db peak and you want it at -6 you would raise everything by -6db. So everything is getting louder an equal am...

I should have read the other posts first. I'm 28, but feel much older since I work with so many college students.

I guess accents would be easier if each volunteer took one character and read it through with one narrator. The edits could be a nightmare though.

oh well.

I figured I'd submit them and if they suck I can redo them. If it's just too loud or soft that can be fixed easily

Chapter 17
Chapter 18

Please if you have any suggestions on improvement please let me know.

Thanks

volume levels

Hi everyone. I'm cleaning up the recordings I did for chapters 17-18. I was wondering what volume level most of you used. I scanned a few and I'm getting average RMS ranging from -33 to -23, with peaks from -15 to -10. Do we happen to have a standard or just shoot for something around that mark?

Sorry I haven't been able to record the chapters yet. I'm going in to record today and tomorrow and hopefully will have them all edited by 20th.

This will be my first shot. I saw the project listed on Life Hacker and it looked interesting. I should probably reread the whole book though. Could I take 17-18? Hope I don't let anyone down.
