Re: LibriVox 18th Anniversary Collection - tg

Here are some possible texts. Feel free to spam me with some, and I'll change this post to add them. FDR: Repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment (Proclamation 2065—1933) [no link for now] Would this be a suitable link to read from? It says it's PD because it's a work of the US government. https://en.wi...

Re: Guess what date we will hit 100,000 users

It would be nifty if we hit that milestone on the same day as the annual LibriVox Anniversary party! So I'll pick August 9th!

Re: [SOLO] Bicycling for Ladies by Maria E. Ward -jo

Thanks, Tricia and Jo! I'll omit the tables, then. Wish I could "mouse" left-handed! I keep right-clicking when I want to left-click, and vice-versa. Jo, your mouse-ambidexterity sounds impressive! I'll get the rest of the recording done over the next few days. I can let you know later if ...

Re: [SOLO] Bicycling for Ladies by Maria E. Ward -jo

Well, there's been some discombobulation to my plans. I have a fractured right arm and a broken finger in my right hand. I've often wished I had some time off from work, to catch up at LV, but now that I've got some enforced time off, I can't edit, as I'm right-handed. I've got three more chapters r...

Re: 'Thank You' messages for LibriVox readers - continued

Praise received for commonsparrow3 (Maria Kasper) from our 'Thank a reader' feature : Wow! Just finished listening to your reading of The Home-Maker. You were the perfect person to read this book for us. You made the characters and situations come alive, it was wonderful! Can’t thank you enough! Ev...

Re: [SOLO] Bicycling for Ladies by Maria E. Ward -jo

Oh, my goodness! I'm sorry, Jo, that I've had this project on a back burner for so long. It's been awhile since I've even had LV on my radar. Please forgive me for not at least checking in! Yes, I do really want to get back to work here, to finish this project, and to dip my toe into other projects....

Re: [SOLO] Bicycling for Ladies by Maria E. Ward -jo

As far as I know, mine has never auto-updated. I'm still using Audacity 2.1.3 - which was the 2017 update. Haven't updated since, as I like this version and am used to it. Well, it's a mystery, then. I'll hope it was a one-time glitch. But next time I export a section, I'll be sure to zoom out and v...

Re: [SOLO] Bicycling for Ladies by Maria E. Ward -jo

There is about 2 minutes of silence at the end. Nothing is missing. Now THAT is extremely weird! When I re-opened the saved Audacity project, there were only the usual 5 seconds of silence at the end. But when I exported it again, it exported with the extra silence - which wasn't actually there! Wh...

Re: [SOLO] Bicycling for Ladies by Maria E. Ward -jo

I don't recall how picky you are with pronunciation. "Chamois" at 1:25 is usually pronounced "SHAM-ee". Just noting it, if you want to do anything with it. :) I corrected it, if you want to spot-check. It's a word I've seen occasionally in print, but I've only known one person w...

Re: [SOLO] Bicycling for Ladies by Maria E. Ward -jo

Well, I'm back -- (at long, LOOOONG last!) Here is Chapter 14 - Tools and How to Use Them https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/bicyclingforladies_14_ward_128kb.mp3 Length 12:30 I don't know how to apologize for the long gap here. I've just been so occupied this past year, and LV fell throu...

Re: One Book a Week Club 2023

Only 34 books last year on the 2022 List -- nowhere near as many as in past years. Life in 2022 has been too busy - (working two jobs, often at work all 7 days in a week) - so little time to read. Even more so than the previous year, I've turned more to audiobooks than to paper books, because they c...

Re: [SOLO] Bicycling for Ladies by Maria E. Ward -jo

Oh, goodness! Broken ankle sounds like no fun at all. I'm glad you are recovered and back on your bike again!

Be back here with another section in about 2 weeks, if all goes well!
