I also want to mention a comedy club we used to go to in Edinburgh.
The Stand http://www.thestand.co.uk/
They get some good acts and the food was pretty decent too.
We often enjoyed the Sunday improv shows, partly cos they were fun and also because they were free.

Re: Edinburgh, Scotland!

I'm going to Edinburgh for 10 days at the end of March, and wondered if anyone was from around there? Or, has anyone been there? I'm looking for any advice on what to see and do? I am going to take a couple of those minivan tours to Loch Lomond/ Stirling, Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, etc., but what else s...

I've now posted my latest episode of Historyzine at Historyzine.com, The Battle of Ramillies.
My pronunciation has slipped a few times but some of them I've managed to get close to your suggestions. Thanks again for helping me out with these.
Kind regards

Jim

You could also try lowering the recording level a little and speaking a little louder. If the contrast between your voice and the background noise is greater then it's going to sound less irritating in the final recording.

Help with French/Belgian pronunciation

Greetings This is a bit cheeky me here asking for help as I so rarely do anything Librivoxy at the moment but remembering what splendid people the Librivoxers are I decided to pop along anyway to see if there were some who could help make sure I get the pronunciation right for my podcast. I do a pod...

pm'ed jim mowwat 10/4. :) This gave me quite a start when I read this. 10th April, I thought. Goodness, surely it hasn't taken me so long to respond. When my brain woke up I managed to figure out this was one of those terribly subversive colonial things <grin> where they try and confuse we denizens...

I'm taking a look at it.

That sounds like background noise.
Recording under a blanket might be the answer.

Yes,it's got that noise cleaning swirl to it. It's comprehensible but for future recordings I would recommend trying to track down the hum. Noise cleaning should be a last resort. Trying to get a clean recording in the first place is the easiest route and will make your recording life a much happier...

More new piccies. :D Thank you Jim. We had a lot of fun in Maastricht. :D We had a great time. Ans :D We did indeed. I knew I'd enjoy Maastricht. It has quite a central European location so there's the many connections with Europe and a fantastically intricate set of fortifications. Anna and Dick m...
