Re: [SOLO] Isaac Bickerstaff, Physician and Astrologer by Sir Richard Steele - tg

I can't record with audacity though. I read online from a chromebook, so I can't download audacity on it. I edit my recordings using my mom's work computer which I can only use once in awhile. I'll look around on youtube then and see what I can find. Thanks again

Re: using Google Chrome Book

Hi Ruth,
Welcome to LV!
GarageBand is also a good bet for mobile devices- it has decent recording materials. Most of the volunteers here use PCs or laptops, so I wouldn't be sure myself about using Chromebook, but yeah, like Tovarisch said, Twisted Wave is a great alternative.

Re: Newbie with a Question

From a quick forum search, it looks like one reader was successful in using Twisted Wave as an audio recording program on the Chromebook. As long as you can get your tech settings correct (mono, 44100 sample rate, 128kbps constant bit rate, and volume level OK), you can use it. You might ...

Re: Which laptop spec?

I think the only thing I'd avoid would be a Chromebook (which is not Windows anyway.) I'm sure they're great in other settings, but very hard to use for LibriVox. Everything else is up to you. I record on an incredibly ancient Windows 98 laptop ...

Software other than Audacity

Hello, I'm new around here. I own only a Chromebook which will not run Audacity. However, I found a suggestion for an alternative. Has anyone used HTML 5 Audio Tool successfully?

Thanks!

... recommend getting a "real" computer with a full operating system -- so if you're looking at Windows computers, get one running Windows 10, not a Chromebook. Have fun computer shopping!

Re: Requirements: computer/recording

... is that the computer does not really need to be all that powerful to allow you to record and edit your audio. I would probably ignore 'Chromebook' type but any other would do fine. I am personally still thinking of getting a mini-PC for that purpose, since some of them do not have any ...
