Re: ~[solo] A Voyage in the 'Sunbeam': Our Home on the Ocean for Eleven Months by Anna Allnut Brassey - lt

2:19 - The engines, by Messrs. Laird, are of 70 nominal or 350 indicated horse-power, and developed a speed of 10.13 knots at the measured mile. Usually pronounced as Messieurs. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/monsieur Dovie, it has been suggested you leave this as the English pronunciat...

Just wanted to respond that I see your notes and I'll get to them soon. Planning a nice, long, Librivox session tomorrow. :)

Re: ~[solo] A Voyage in the 'Sunbeam': Our Home on the Ocean for Eleven Months by Anna Allnut Brassey - lt

Okay, I think I'm doing this right . . . Section 0 is in the magic window: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/voyageinthesunbeam_00_brassey_128kb.mp3 It is 3:02 and ready for PL. Section 1 is in the magic window: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/voyageinthesunbeam_01_brassey_128kb.mp3 It is 19:1...

Here's Section 22: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/womentravellers_22_adams_128kb.mp3

It's 10:27, scrubbed, volumed, and scrubbed again. I'll go ahead and do the new Section 23, if that's still up for grabs, and then I'll take a serious look at the Brassey books. :)

I will reply to your PM soon, but I definitely want to do the book!

I'm about to record Section 23, but looking at the Magic Window - is it supposed to be Section 22?

Re: ~[GRP/travel] Celebrated Women Travelers of the Nineteenth Century by W.H.Davenport Adams - lt

I'm definitely interested! I don't know all of the conventions for Librivox yet though - the readings I've done for you are the only ones I've done. When you do a solo do you still have a handler (book coordinator?) I would definitely need someone to ask about captions and footnotes and what is read...

Re: ~[GRP/travel] Celebrated Women Travelers of the Nineteenth Century by W.H.Davenport Adams - lt

And here is Section 17: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/womentravellers_17_adams_128kb.mp3 This one is 29:47 - ha! I remembered! I'll take Section 23 next, if I may! Also, it was a little surreal reading about Lady Brassey seeing the erupting Kilauea 150 years ago, when I keep getting mes...

Re: ~[GRP/travel] Celebrated Women Travelers of the Nineteenth Century by W.H.Davenport Adams - lt

Hi Lynnet -

Here is Section 16: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/womentravellers_16_adams_128kb.mp3

I noise-reduced and amplified and noise-reduced again, so I hope we're good to go. If so, I'll take Section 17 next!

Re: ~[GRP/travel] Celebrated Women Travelers of the Nineteenth Century by W.H.Davenport Adams - lt

Hi Lynnet - I fixed the two stumbles and ran the whole thing through noise cleaning again. I did clean it last night, but maybe it got more background noise this time? I watched the YouTube video and he suggested different settings than I've been using (I've been doing the 6, 6.0, 6 as suggested in ...

Re: ~[GRP/travel] Celebrated Women Travelers of the Nineteenth Century by W.H.Davenport Adams - lt

Alright, this is section 7: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/womentravellers_07_adams_128kb.mp3 The recording is 37:12. I noise-reduced it, fixed the volume, and ran it through the checker, so I hope we're good to go. If everything is roses, I'll take Section 8 as well and just finish Fredericka ...

Re: ~[GRP/travel] Celebrated Women Travelers of the Nineteenth Century by W.H.Davenport Adams - lt

I'll just say it phonetically, then! One of my middle school teachers always said that when you're giving a report you shouldn't stumble over words you don't know how to pronounce - just pick something and say it with confidence and people won't notice. I'll use that tactic.

Thanks!
