For those of you familiar with the art of Jackson Pollock, you'll know what to do (hint - move your mouse):

Your spacebar clears the screen. Clicking changes the color.

Thanks Catherine. I think by watching these forum threads, I'll start noticing more of those notes. I've been reading some of the archives as well. It's just so nice to hear the different sounds.

Hello Cory Not So Newb.

And hello Chris - you have some nice country over around Chico as well.

Are you thinking of compiling your own version from the source code? That's what it sounds like, which would be the hard way of installing Audacity. Unless that's your idea of a good time. No, not at all! I just saw that text in the "read me" document, and wondered if there was some techie-geekie s...

An old thread but I'll throw my bit in. I'm a native English speaker. I studied German in middle school, but can only recall a few memorized sentences. I lived with a family in Turkey for a summer, and unconsciously spilled out German as I tried to learn some basic phrases. Twenty years later, I liv...

Thanks David. I think I'm trying to move too fast - my learning curve on this iMac is going to take some time to get over. The good news is that I figured out how to record my voice with Audacity, and trim parts out. That may be all the victory I can stand for now. I also haven't given the bu...

Thanks for the experiences. I'll try cleaning it away, then downloading again later. Someone else mentioned "repairing permissions" which I had known nothing about. Apparently something to be done before and after program downloads.

Cheers,

LAME install on Intel based iMac?

Has anyone been able to do this? Part of the readme text says: "NOTE: As written, the build script requires the 10.2.8 SDK and gcc 3.3 compiler to be installed in addition to the 10.4 SDK and gcc 4.0 compiler. This is to provide compatibility back to 10.2 for the PPC architecture. Also, it is meant ...

Okay, I tried again, and it seems to be collecting them now. I have dsl, and subscribe to some BBC podcasts and This American Life, and those all work fine. I guess the source was taking a nap.

Thanks for your attention and help!

Thanks for that - it's somewhat reassuring, but I hope it can be fixed. :(

Oh dear, how does iTunes subscription work?

I went to the "book" I wanted, clicked to subscribe in iTunes, then what appear to be ghost tracks (?) loaded into my iTunes podcast list. When I hit GET or GET ALL, the little twirlies twirled but nothing actually springs to living color.

What am I missing?

Hello from northern California

Hello all, I first heard about LibriVox on our community radio station KZYX & Z, during a mixed spoken word show. It was a marvelous recording of Jabberwocky recorded with a Brooklyn accent that got me curious. I don't know if I'll record very soon, but I want to learn how to use Audacity when I can...
