Re: Pearl (the Coulton translation) - dc

I think I quite like my introduction to the piece. Clearly, it brings out the poet in me. So I'll leave things as they are. Thank you for your double duty, MCing and DPLing. On to Chaucer and a canter through the Tales (very very slowly - unless I get gripped as usual). Looking forward to seeing you...

Happy Out-Of-Copyright! Got all these loaded up so you can get them done before you go on holiday. Will start the Canterbury Tales at a slow trot. Hope you enjoy yourself.

Re: Jewish Fairy Tales

I just told the first story in the first collection to a friend over breakfast, about a guy called Adam who gets shipwrecked on an island called Life where he is king, but has to decide whether to enjoy his kingship for a year or prepare the island he is then going to - presumably called Death - for...

Re: Frank Harris' "contemporary portraits"/short stories by

The contemporary portraits could make a good group project. They boast, among other things, the origin of the famous Monty Python sketch -
Wilde: I wish I'd said that.
Whistler: You will, Oscar, you will.
The de Sade on the other hand was translated in the Sixties.

Cheers,

Re: Pearl (the Coulton translation) - dc

Yes, I'd like the dates dropped from the intro as I've already done that in my first two files. I'd been following the death date of the translator for PD status - if it doesn't begin till the end of the year of the death, rather than on the actual date, then presumably publication on Librivox can w...

Re: Pearl (the Coulton translation) - dc

I've named the author as The Gawain Poet as it's thought to be. Could I drop the birth and death dates for George Coulton? I've already done two recordings without them. However, it's relatively easy to put them in. Up to you. (Bed.)
