Re: [Solo Biography] Some Famous Women by Louise Creighton - dc

Hi Pam, Section 14 is PL OK. I was selfishly hoping for a bit more on her travels to Ladakh, but this was still really good. I'm left wondering what happened to her very cuddly Arabian horse though! I have to ask: any logical explanation for her illness 'at home' but rugged indifference to discomfor...

Re: Short stories (Early works 1837-1852) - Gaskell-mas

I've marked section 7 with a note because I think there might be a typo in the text. Here's what I came up with: 8.13-8.20 …it was considered a delicate attention to have the shutters dosed, the curtains drawn, and the candles lighted. I’m questioning if ‘dosed’ ought to be ‘closed’ to go along with...

Re: Short stories (Early works 1837-1852) - Gaskell-mas

MaryAnn - thank you, I'm all logged in and everything is groovy!

Phil - I've taken the liberty of changing 'of' to 'among' in the MW, section 1 title.

I have one note for section 5:

7.29, self-correction
…to apuse to abuse a poor dumb animal, ma’am...

Re: ~ Short stories (Early works 1837-1852) - Gaskell-mas

It's hard to keep my hands (ears?) off Gaskell chapters! I noticed two very small things with the sections that have already been PLed. Both have the '_kps' at the end whereas the other files don't. I'm assuming it's not a problem, but as DPL it's my job to note anything and everything that might ma...

Re: SOLO Nada the Lily by H. Rider Haggard-ans

Notes for chapter 1: 2.39-2.41, second sentence p. 6 …he lies in the breast of the old Stone [heard Sun] Witch… [it might not make much difference, but I don’t know if this comes back later!] 10.56-10.57, p. 9 mid-page …U’Cetywayo’s kraal. [as before with pronunciation – changing this is totally up ...

Re: SOLO Nada the Lily by H. Rider Haggard-ans

I remembered, very vaguely, that Umslopogaas was in this, but I'm looking forward to hearing more about his story. He pops up in at least one of the Allan Quatermain books - although the more I try to remember the details, the more I realise that my memory's pretty hazy! A couple of the notes are fo...

Hi Pam,

Section 12 is PL OK. Poor thing. Those adoring crowds would have been too much for anybody.
