Re: [poetry] From Distant Shores by Mary E Adams -ck

I'd like to take section 7, 'Refreshment', if I may.

Re: Please Recommend a MP3 Player [BOUGHT]

I'm sorry your mp3 player has died. I didn't realise how often I used mine until it stopped working; I bought a new one very swiftly indeed! I can tell you what I use, as I'm happy with it. I have a Sony NWZE384. I live in Europe, and I don't know what models are available where you are, or if they ...

Re: [poetry] The Defence of the Bride by A. K. Green -ck

I've been impatient! I've been playing with various settings. I think a lot of the hum is gone, but I'm certainly open to further suggestions, or to redoing it if need be.

Thanks for the advice. I've posted a test, so with any luck there will be other things to try. I'll give it a few days just in case before I re-record the poem.

Re: [poetry] The Defence of the Bride by A. K. Green -ck

Is that too much? I thought it was better to do fewer incremental rounds of cleaning than to do one with high settings before I manually clean up the file. Would it be advisable to post another test in the listeners wanted section? I've already had a LOT of help, as it took a few attempts to get my ...

Re: [poetry] The Defence of the Bride by A. K. Green -ck

Thanks! I think I'll redo it, as it's a short poem. I already do three rounds of noise removal and one of levelling, and I don't know if anything more would distort it. Short passages with extra cleaning might be a bit less noticeable with prose, but I'm reluctant to do it with poetry. I hope the ne...

Re: Favourite Librivoxed monsters?

Dunsany is brilliant, but I also think William Hope Hodgson has some good monsters. The titular characters of The Ghost Pirates are suitably spooky, as are the unnerving swine creatures in The House on the Borderland , and some of what Carnacki faces is terrifying. I have to say that I'm quite looki...
