Re: [group] Remarks by Bill Nye - ck

My sections will be further delayed. The business trips have been extended into July so I can't get the sections done until late July. Sorry for the delay. If that's too late, please remove me from those sections.

Re: [group] Remarks by Bill Nye - ck

I think I did not do the complete Section 59... I thought it was just the paper-hanger part and I missed the other part. Very sorry for this oversight. I'll add the remainder of Section 59 asap (may take 2 weeks due to a business trip).

Re: upgrade to mic

mlee, I'm a professional voice artist and reducing plosives and breath sounds is always a challenge. Two tricks I learned that have really helped me are, for breath sounds specifically, take breaths with your mouth wide open and fill your lungs from your diaphragm; it's amazing how quietly you can b...

Re: Help with recording any easier way

Good point about the cheaper clickers; mine might actually fall apart one of these days :(. One caution about any of the "peak makers" -- which I agree are much faster, for me at least, than longer pauses -- is to let the spike decay before starting to talk again. I learned that the hard way and tha...

Re: Help with recording any easier way

I use a cheap dog clicker from Petsmart. It makes peaks that really stand out.

Re: upgrade to mic

Just a point about non-USB mics. You will not need a mixer (or mixing board) unless you actually will be mixing multiple inputs which narrators rarely do, if at all, for LibriVox recordings. But you will need a pre-amp with computer interface (one that has a USB output) such as those from Focusrite ...

Re: [GRP] A Failure of Initiative (Hurricane Katrina Report)

I find that I will not be able to do the recordings from at least 2 more weeks. If I am taking too long, please remove me from Sections 28 and 29.

Re: Page turning noise

I read from paper -- and would really like to go to something electronic, someday(!) -- and I put a page break between paragraphs as needed so a paragraph doesn't span pages; that helps with my flow. Then use the standard dog clicker to mark a page turn, just as I do for reading boo-boos, so I can e...
