[SOLO] The Complete Confectioner by Hannah Glasse - dc

The Complete Confectioner by Hannah Glasse (1708 - 1770) . The original version of Hannah Glasse’s 'The Complete Confectioner' was first produced about 1760 but the publication referenced here is from the year 1800 (some thirty years after her death) with considerable additions and corrections made...

Re: [SOLO] Stories of North Pole Adventure by Frank Mundell - dc

So, the story of Nansen brings this trip to a conclusion and apart from one questionable decision, seems to have been the best prepared and organised of all the expeditions detailed in the book. Thanks for PLing 13 & 14 - Final Section 15 now uploaded. Thanks also for PLing & MCing the project - I r...

Re: [SOLO] Stories of North Pole Adventure by Frank Mundell - dc

The near freezing temperatures of late make listening to these stories more real. I'm sitting in front of the fireplace right now wondering what I eat contains vitamin C. Well, if it's of any help could I suggest that you consider including food sources such as caribou liver, kelp, whale skin, and ...

I regret not noticing the sources of the historical artifacts in the Anchorage Museum (Inuit?).
Many artifacts were probably obtained from the Inuit but could have also have been recovered from abandoned campsites, maybe?

Thanks for PLing 10 - 11 & 12 now uploaded.

Re: [SOLO] Stories of North Pole Adventure by Frank Mundell - dc

Sad that the Franklin's crew was so unprepared for travel by land. If they could have 'gone native' with clothing and food more appropriate to the conditions, they might have stood a greater chance of surviving. I recall reading in a previous chapter that breakfast for the overland explorers consis...

Re: [SOLO] Stories of North Pole Adventure by Frank Mundell - dc

While at the Anchorage Museum I learned about the 1845 Franklin expedition to find the infamous Northwest Passage. Thirty-seven expeditions were eventually launched to discover their fate. The two ships weren't found until 2014 (and 2016) in water less than one hundred feet deep in the Arctic Ocean...
