I make reading mistakes all the time. Rather than stopping the recording, deleting the error immediately, and re-starting, I find it easiest to keep the recording running and make two very loud snaps with the fingers before trying again (or you could use your tongue). I'd be happy to stage direct. Not that there's much to do in the play itself without the footnotes, but somebody has to get their mind round all the Latin quotes in the preface.
