Pardon my background noise. I couldn't resist this poem, no matter how many cars drove by and airplanes flew overhead while I recorded it!

This is a very helpful thread, with lots of advice to consider. Relaxing and breathing really do seem key to me. In my work in the field, I have seen/heard a lot of styles of narration, and have picked up a few other tips. I once heard a professional narrator say "Don't read ahead." Not me...

I did go to the catalog page and listen to one of the mp3 versions. It does cut off around 13/14 minutes. Did you want me to check all three versions on the catalog page?

I just uploaded the full-length file here:

I don't know how these things get fixed, but I was the reader of that chapter and could re-upload the original file if that would help. It's around 29 minutes long in total.

Thank you! Now to shock you...there's a "bonus chapter!" I feel bad that it is taking me so long to complete this book, so I pushed through and recorded another chapter ASAP. Now 10 is also ready to be checked. I just finished uploading it. I did 9 and 10 in a studio, so the quality of sou...

I'm pretty new to GarageBand, too, so I can't help you with all of your questions and will be interested to read any answers, but I can tell you that I record my LibriVox sessions in GarageBand as podcasts. I use the "Female Narrator Noisy" filter, as I feel like I get the best possible so...

I am having those same old problems with noise leaking into my recordings. ...I had no idea it would be so hard in the summer. But I am poised for a quiet night to do another chapter.

I have learned that even in the retail audiobook industry, different readers have very different styles. I have listened to a number of "top" professional narrators and there are a few whose delivery I cannot stand. But those same people sell lots of books to people who love their narrativ...

I think we're about 24 weeks into 2007 and I see that I'm a bit behind my goal. I'm at 18 books completed. Finished: 13. The Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell (AMAZING! Best book so far this year) 14. Pastoralia by George Saunders (great, quirky short stories. I want to read more by this author) 15. Hot...

Hello! I have run into some problems that delayed the book. After returning from my trip, it has been quite hot in NYC. We don't have central air. In order to record, I have to turn off all the fans and window unit and sweat. That's not so bad, but there are also kids outside screaming and more cars...
