Re: Explicit Lyrics

Actually defscan, Librivox and internet weren't even apples in their fathers' eyes, but had they been the words would still have been used because they were by no means derogatory then. Wikipedia: N... is a noun in the English language. The word originated as a neutral term referring to black people...

Re: Help uploading my 1 minute test

Hello Paige, and welcome to Librivox! Did you receive your Welcome e-mail ? There you will find all the information you need to get you started - and much more, via the links. Lots to read, and Phil's videos tell and show you what to do. But it's well worth while to take the time, as it saves a lot ...

Re: Hello :)

Feel free to send requests, if you have any. Welcome Ginny! That isn't quite how Librivox works. What we read is up to us, as long as it is in the Public Domain in USA, i.e. published in 1922 or before, and that we each abide by the copyright laws of our own country. Rob mentioned Dramatic Works. T...

Re: Newbie from Dublin, Ireland

Confession  - the only way I could get the accents was to copy and paste.
Otherwise it's an hour's rummage around in Word doc. 'symbols' Image

Congratulations Anna, and have a great time here.

Re: Newbie from Dublin, Ireland

Hello again Anna, Not being one of the clever folk who check the technical side of things I'm not in a position to comment, but I hope someone comes along soon for you. I've just listened to your one-minute test out of curiosity. You have a fabulous voice! http://emoticoner.com/files/emoticons/smile...

Re: Explicit Lyrics

I am old enough to remember a soft doll, much loved by children which became a mascot for a famous jam company. Sadly I never managed to collect enough whatever-was-needed to gain possession of one of the collectable enamel badges. Do not read this recent article, or the ensuing comments if you are ...

Re: Newbie from Dublin, Ireland

Welcome inkling, I envy anyone who lives within a bus ride of the Book of Kells! Let me introduce you to Tadhg and DublinGothic . I'm afraid I can't think of any Irish ladies who read here, but I'm sure there's at least one. Hopefully someone will come along who can enlighten you. Have fun  Ca...

Here in the UK it is really easy to return things to Amazon. There are now local stores acting as pick-up points for unwanted items.
Have you explored such possibilities around the sunny Riviera?

Don, it was your lovely DPL I had in mind when I posted above.
Always prompt and has a great relationship with all her readers

Re: Dplers like readers- forcing a dpl to quit if they do no

I agree that it's discouraging and not good form for a DPL to disappear or otherwise hold up a project ... Would it be a time frame thing? Such as, if the DPL doesn't make progress on files within X weeks/months after it was submitted, others can PL it? I was fortunate in having lovely DPLs for my ...

Re: Another newbie hails from Ulster County New York

Welcome, Jason! You don't need luck, just time :) Someone who checks the 'one minute tests' will listen and give feedback soon, but I had a quick listen without headphones. Great voice! Do I detect a little bit of a Scottish accent there? I was expecting New York! Very soon the world of Librivox wil...
