it may be better for archive to have each page as an indiv file, so that you can hear it as you read. as well as a complete fused file. My husband (grinning the whole while) was reading along with Alex's audio of International Episode and it was well-paced for reading and page-turning. One thing th...

Any more takers for pages? There are 11 yet unclaimed.

These are very short readings--perfect for testing out your equipment if you're a new volunteer, or for procrastinating on reading Treasure Island.

(Thanks to Squiddhartha, Brad, Alex & Kara for their quick work.)

BradBush wrote: Since we are fusing together, and are doing one page a peice, I am assuming we leave off the "Header" and "chapter titles", and just record the raw audio.
Yes, you're correct. No need to read the header and chapter numbers.

Hugh, I knew you'd take the Audio Versions page. :-) Thank you. Regarding the mp3s reading "page by page" for Open Libray books, I think it will be troublesome to generate and upload 100+ files per book. And that fine granularity could make the listening experience awfully choppy, as the MP3s are st...

COMPLETED: Open Library Vision

all audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/the-open-library-by-brewster-kahle/ To complement the other works we've read for the Open Library, let's take tis' idea from another thread in the Discussion forum and make it real-- let's share the reading of Brewster Kahle's Op...

Wow, that looks (and is) great. I'm in for reading a page of Brewster's vision book. I'll even lead this one and edit everything together. :-)

Ok :) file is now edited to say "chapter two" and "end of chapter two" Interesting how we all have slightly different takes on things. I said "Christmas Eve" and "End of Christmas Eve" since the chapters weren't numbered in the table of contents. I suppose it doesn't really matter, especially in a ...

I didn't have notes! I got my text from gutenberg... gosh i hope that's ok, the pdf took FOREVER to load and was frustrating. I read mine from the gutenberg text, too. The notes are included. But don't worry, the first note is in the Christmas Eve chapter. The archive.org PDF version is lovely, but...

There's a lot of noise outside today--new construction in the neighborhood and the trains seem to have turned up the volume.

Ar we doing notes as a separate reading? Or should we include them at the end of our chapter? (I'd suggest doing them at the end, as they seem to describe Christmas customs in more detail--plus I didn't read the two for my chapter...)

Yikes, we've got songs in this one. How do you usually handle them? Normally when reading aloud to friends, if they are songs I know, I sing them. If I don't know the songs, sometimes I make up a tune as I go. But these are ancient English Christmas ditties that might even have been invented by the ...

Do we want to make available an audio file of the intro information? Then readers would have a choice of reading the intro themselves, or editing the master one into their files. Might add a bit of identity to our librivox "brand." We could even go crazy and add a second or two of theme music under ...
