Re: Covermakers Chat Thread

I think we have a different idea of what exactly constitutes "generic". If you're combining several images that all kinda sorta define the book, it's not generic to me... For me, "generic" is trees, flowers, marbled paper... with the title/author somewhere in the middle. Our poetry collections...

Re: Volunteer CD Covers! Working Thread

Just some trees and bushes. They should be applicable to any continent: https://librivox.org/the-surgeons-daughter-by-sir-walter-scott/ Once you realise that the cover does not necessarily have to fit the topic of the book, there are so many more options. :D Do you know the Penguin Classics series o...

Re: Volunteer CD Covers! Working Thread

I have removed your claim Michele, thanks for letting us know. This seems to be a difficult one indeed - the summary doesn't tell much detail, whereas the wikipedia entry for the book shows a rather meandering plotline. :? I guess I'll do something generic, especially since we don't seem to have the...

Re: European LibriVox branch?

I haven't been online on legamus much, but my understanding is that they only record books that are not recordable for LibriVox (at this point). With copyright being so different - LV adheres to US copyright of "95 years after publication" and legamus to EU copyright of "70 years after author's deat...

Hi and welcome to this project!

Thanks for filling us up again - 3 sections for you!
Please note that because the sections are so short in this project, that there is a deadline of 1 month only for your recordings.

Have fun on here!

Re: What's a Book You Wish Was in the Public Domain?

Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath. One of the most touching books I've ever read. The Temple of the Golden Pavillion by Yukio Mishima. A masterpiece even though I think Mishima sucks as a person. Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. Thrilling biography, even though most of it must be fictional. Anything by Ryunosuk...

But then what about people who are ambidextrous - can use both of their hands equally well? Where would their speech centers be - both sides after all?
