Re: [Group] The Intoxicated Ghost by Bates - availle

Welcome, Erica.
You've chosen a huge section as your first project with Librivox!
It's a great story, though - I actually toyed with the idea of recording it myself at one point.
All yours now - good luck!

I updated the link in the MW, so it would be clear which one I had PL'd. Hope that was OK.

Re: [Group] The Intoxicated Ghost by Bates - availle

Hi! So I'm new, and I haven't uploaded my 1 minute test yet, but I will do asap. In the meantime could I please claim section 7 (Miss Gaylord and Jenny)? First you must submit the one-minute test, so that we can check your recording specifications. The instructions can be found here: http://wiki.li...

Re: How do YOU make editing quicker??

Reassuring to know that I am in good company. One of the odd things I notice (and noticed just today in a short non-fiction piece) is that I may record one sentence five times because I am not satisfied with how it sounds, and then, when it comes to editing, I pick the original one to keep, which w...

Re: How do YOU make editing quicker??

The time it takes me varies widely, depending on what I'm reading. Children's books and poems are about 1:1 or so. Others can take much, much longer - such as texts with lots of foreign phrases, or written in phonetically spelled accents (like Scots), or run-on sentences - like the 26 phrases (count...

Re: You know you're addicted to LV when... (slight return)

And in the same vein... You know when you are addicted to LV, or at least have been recording too much, when you are speaking into a microphone in public, and you realize that you have been speaking in your 'reading voice.' And when strange, antiquated words start creeping into everyday conversatio...

Re: How close is your mic [Samson Go Mic]

It was designed to clip to a laptop, so that would mean about 12 inches or less. I found that the closer, the better - because it picks up EVERYTHING, as you are undoubtedly discovering. I actually got the best results by clipping it to my headset, but it was a little too heavy for that - so I final...
